Tech Tips of the day

Purge Google and Outlook Spam Folders

Purge your email Junkmail and Spam folders regularly! You should purge junk daily and here is why. Spammers know all the tricks. They know that you are probably going to delete their email and it will end up in either your Junk folder, or deleted items in Outlook for example.

We are not convinced that spammers cannot work as a Trojan horse from within your junk mail or deleted items folder! Why take the chance. Keep all spam, junk mail and deleted items folders empty as much as possible. Take 1 minute and do it now. Your inbox will flow more smoothly.

Internet Browser Update

Not much has changed in the internet browser race between Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. We are still on the fence and rotate between all 3 browsers. We are finding that some browsers per-form well in most areas but each have their own quirks. Microsoft Edge (code name: Spartan) will be the new browser that comes with Windows 10.

Windows 7 is Not Going Away

Windows 7 is here to stay until at least 2020 and it is the most reliable operating system to date.

Windows 7 - 64bit Pro is the recommended operating system for professionals and what we use in our multiple monitor QuadStation computers.

Despite all the current media hype, Windows 7 is NOT going away so rest easy.  It is still for sale with no sales end date in sight and Microsoft support through 2020. Read all about it.

Microsoft's Edge Browser

You may have heard of Microsoft's new Edge browser for Windows 10 code named Spartan. Microsoft Edge currently runs only in Windows 10 which is a bummer. Who wants Windows 10 yet.

MS Edge is completely integrated into Windows 10 & a standalone version is not available. Microsoft has no plans of releasing the Edge browser on other versions of windows or any other platforms for that matter. That is a shame, so no new browsers for Windows 7 or 8 users which is what most of the world runs on right now.
